Cannondale CAAD3 and Cannondale CAAD4
Years Cycling?
I have always ridden from age 6 to now but nothing competitive until College back in 87-89 with Texas Tech. However, engineering studies curbed that career very quickly so I studied and finally graduated in 91. Got fat from 91-97 (250lbs max). Got dusted last
year (2001) by JT in the Rosedale ride and got serious about weight loss and training. Dropped from 235lbs to 190lbs by May and
kept the intensity high through the summer. Got inspired to race after comparing average speeds over 62 miles with a guy who got 2nd in the Hotter'n Hell in the 4/5's. Signed up in September and here I am.
Favorite Pro(s)?
Any of the tall guys. George Hincapie, Miguel Indurain and David Millar to name a few.....
Favorite Pre-Race meal?
Italian pasta meals with fresh garlic bread and lots of water the night before and then Honey Nut Cheerios mixed with Honey Nut
Chex, fresh fruit, Orange juice and a little egg or other protein source to enhance the carbo uptake.

34 in May
Best race experience?
Catch me later, I haven't experienced that yet.
Interesting Facts?
My first race in 1987 at the Texas Tech Memorial Circle Race: My Raleigh Technium 420 with stem shifters and I got ready to roll. I noticed the shift lever was a little loose but didn't have a dime or screw driver to tighten it up but assumed that it would be fine. 45 feet later (that's right feet) I was balanced on my front wheel going head over heals. From what I heard and experienced, the chain jumped, my foot popped out of the cleat and the pedal caught the back of my calf, my weight was too forward on the bars and over I went. Ruined the wheel and picked up a road rash consolation prize. Walked back to the dorms in shame while my friends talked about the amazing circus act they had just witnessed. My bike gets a complete once over prior to every race no matter what!!
I am also deaf in my left ear due after Cholesteatoma removal and attempted repair via Tympanoplasty.
